Press release: New advice on oral salicylate gels in under 16s

As read, the association between Reye's syndrome and salicylate-containing mouth gels is theoretical as there are no confirmed cases as yet. However to play safe, better to use salicylate-free mouth gels for children below 16yo. Mouth gels with mild local anaesthetics, salt water rinse, cold therapy or Manuka honey may also be useful alternatives in treating common mouth ulcers.

No advise from HSA as yet regarding salicylate-containing mouth gels in sg.
